DIY Belly Basket Arrangement

Seagrass ‘belly’ baskets are an infinitely versatile and stylish addition to your home or your wardrobe. These generous, handwoven belly baskets are perfect for storage- keep one or two in your bathroom for folded towels, store away toys and household items conveniently, pack a picnic, display greenery and potted plants or even arrange a gorgeous faux and fresh bouquet for the ultimate centrepiece.

Washed in the purest white and featuring four charming wool pompoms, our Ostuni Seagrass Belly Basket is inspired by the same whitewashed walls of the Brindisi town and pairs beautifully with vibrant pinks and greens to mimic the Bougainvillea flowers that climb its facades. Recreate the look at home with a few simple materials, fresh, seasonal flowers and a selection of our Fleur de Brissi everlasting blooms!

What you will need:

  • Ostuni seagrass belly basket
  • Bucket to fit basket
  • 2 blocks of fresh florist’s oasis
  • Scissors
  • Fresh Flowers:

  • 2-3 stems laurel foliage
  • 2-3 stems dollar leaf blue eucalyptus
  • 2 closed bud peonies
  • 3 pink roses
  • 3 stems pink Lisianthus
  • Faux Flowers:

  • 2 pink chrysanthemum
  • 3 deep pink peonies
  • 3 light pink peonies
  • 3 pink Ecuadorian roses
  • 4 eucalyptus stems
  • 2 grey feather stems
  • Gather all your materials together on a large clear space.

Cut and shape the oasis to neatly fit the bottom of the bucket, add water to soak for 20 mins.

Cut your fresh flowers to fit and arrange loosely in the oasis, allowing a relaxed form to take shape and allowing space for the silk flowers.

Fill the spaces in with the silk flowers, using the chrysanthemum as the focal point.

Place the bucket in the Ostuni basket.

The arrangement works beautifully placed near an open fireplace, in an entryway to greet guests or simply to brighten a plain corner.
