Trends Focus | Summer Whites

Summer decor reflects a (hopeful) change in the weather, and we see a natural shift to lighter colour palettes and softer textures. Inspired by places that we love to travel to in the summertime, raw white and artisan products are everywhere this season, with a focus on organic and authentic homewares. Read our three top tips to achieving a summer white interior and create this beautiful look in your home.

1. Restrict your colour palette

Adding calming influences of white all over the house, including the bedroom, kitchen and living room, will create a feminine and serene atmosphere. A white colour palette can feature on walls, furniture and throughout accessories in varying textures to really make the look of the room feel complete. Varying shades of white work wonderfully together, or stick to certain tones to create a different feeling in the room.

You can achieve a minimalist look with true whites, a vintage look with off whites, or a beachy look with ivory tones. If you want to lighten an already dark room, white accessories such as faux flowers and a large mirror might be just what you need. If you want to add a secondary colour, try a dove grey that will compliment your chalky whites.

2. Take inspiration from your travels

What do you think of when you see the colour white? For this summer trend, think of trips to Provincial France or the Hamptons, and add pieces that have an authentic, romantic feel to them. Hand stitched and crocheted linens are the perfect place to start, paired with white washed woods to create a feminine, whilst classically stylish look that is inspired by your favourite places.

3. Add the finishing touches

Bring your new summer decor to life with delicate silk flower stems and the addition of oversized mirrors that add an understated elegance and huge amounts of light to your interiors. If a more glamorous look is for you, add to the natural feel with a juxtaposition of including silver accessories and pieces of grey furniture.
