Care
This item has been lovingly rescued and restored from raw timbers from old buildings. These are painted, waxed and finished with a sealer so it is water repellent. In order to maintain the finish we recommend following the care guides below:

1. If dirty, clean with a mild dishwashing liquid mixed with water applied by a damp cloth. Cloth should not be excessively wet. Finish with furniture polish applied with a soft cloth.
2. For red wine spills, clean the stain with the oil soap solution. Once you've mixed the oil soap solution, dip a soft, dry cloth into the mixture. Wring the cloth out so that it's damp or slightly wet, and thoroughly scrub the wood where the wine has soaked in until the stain disappears.
3. Never use chemicals such as bleach or any abrasive materials to clean the furniture.
4. Always use coasters and placemats when placing hot drinks and food onto your furniture.
5. It is best, where possible to avoid placing your furniture near to heat sources such as radiators. Temperature needs to be controlled as the furniture will expand and contract in extreme temperatures.
6. Try not to leave your furniture in direct sunlight as this could result in the wood drying out and lead to fading. However, light will, over a period of time, slightly alter the colour of your furniture, this is a natural aging process.
7. Always try a patch test first. If you are unsure as to whether the item you are cleaning is suitable for our instructions, take professional advice.

ZINC TOP CARE GUIDE LINES

Step 1: Clean your table regularly with a mixture of mild soap and water. Wiping your table down at the end of the day or after use is often enough to maintain their original appearance and adequate cleanliness.
Step 2: Do not use your table for cutting or chopping under any circumstances. Zinc is softer than many materials, such as stainless steel, marble and granite, typically used for tabletops, and zinc can easily be damaged by vigorous chopping. Use a clean wooden, glass or plastic cutting board instead if you have limited space and need to use the table for food preparation.
Step 3: Avoid putting hot items such as pots and pans or warmed serving dishes directly on the table. Zinc has a melting point of about 150º, so use hotplates, towels or simply double up your plates before serving if you need to.

Always try a patch test first. If you are unsure as to whether the item you are cleaning is suitable for our instructions, take professional advice.
